Be On Mission With Your Game

Josh Merrill

Being on mission is far more effective than simply going on a mission. A mission trip has a start and an end, but living on mission is a daily posture of obedience and purpose. When you are on mission, you are actively allowing God to use you right where you are. This is what it looks like to live out the Great Commission in real time, not someday or somewhere else, but today in the spaces you already occupy.

To be on mission means understanding that God has already placed you strategically. Your team, your practices, your games, and your locker room are not random. They are your mission field. You do not have to leave your sport to serve God through it. You are called to represent Him through how you compete, how you persevere, how you respond to adversity, and how you love others within your game.

Being on mission with your game requires consistency and perseverance. It is choosing faithfulness even when results are slow, recognition is lacking, or challenges arise. Just as growth in sport comes through showing up day after day, spiritual impact comes through steady obedience. God often works through the ordinary moments when you commit to honoring Him with your effort, attitude, and character.

When you view your game as a mission, everything changes. Your purpose becomes clearer, your pressure lessens, and your influence grows. You are not just playing a sport. You are fulfilling a calling. Be on mission with your game, and trust that God will use every moment for something far greater than the scoreboard.
