The small metal device was used by troops abroad to try and determine if they were around friends or foes in pitch black conditions. It was a simple resource but helped save many lives during war. Furthermore, it provided a way for the soldiers to connect with one another without fear of being shot. Sometimes, the simplest resources help us to connect.
