I could have spent all 20 days with this guy. Alvin Davis is a breath of fresh air for anyone he comes into contact with. Better known as “Mr. Mariner”—or, as he likes to be called, “A.D.”—this former MLB All-Star and Rookie of the Year (in his first year with the Seattle Mariners) is so much more than an ex-ballplayer.
A.D. is an elder at his church and still coaches with the Seattle Mariners in their development program. As he coached me through trying to hit a 90mph fast ball, you clearly can see his ability to coach and, more importantly, connect with people.
He is admired by his peers and is heavily leaned on as a coach and mentor. A.D. is a gentleman who loves Jesus and wants the entire world to know it. It’s great to know that men like this are giving back to the next generation of ball players.
